Spitfire FR Mk.XIV, Airfix 1/48 A05135, boxart

Thanks to cooperation with the company Airfix, we are introducing the first review of their kits. You can read more about the model in Plastic Planet Magazine No. 2 2020, which will be released in April 2020. The model caught his attention and so our colleague immediately started with the the construction of this nice kit, so it certainly will not end with this review and more read in the next issue 03/2020. Here we bring you the first tasting.

At first glance, it might seem that coming to the market with another Spitfire is carrying owls to Athens, but there are some exceptions, and this certainly includes this type. Representation of photo reconnaissance variant of FR Mk.XIV in scale 1/48 we have had to these days only in the aged Academy kit, which was based on the kit XIVc originated in the mid-nineties. It really can not compete with the current Airfix kit. And because this very nice news is quite unlawfully too unpublished, so we will introduce the kit immediately as we received the sample.

The parts are molded precisely without defects, with clear and clean engraving. A good solution is also the separate pressing of the “bubbles” of the engine, which ensures a precise design thanks to this solution.

Own kit allows to open the camera internal space without modifications.

A to i díky řadě žeber – které bude stačit pouze odvrtat do dobře naznačených míst a doplnit o kabeláže

And thanks to a number of ribs - which will be enough to just drill into well-marked places and complement the cabling.

The only depression in the moldings was at the pilot and moreover easily repairable. On top of it, it is nice that Airfix continues to add figure in the model. Nice tradition.

And the only visible ejector I found here, the remedy also will not be dramatic.

Wheels in several variants and with indicated load. Again, nice detail.

A funny solution that allows you to build the model even in the variant with retracted chassis.

It is obvious that the model was designed by a man knowledgeable Spitfire, so very nicely solved detail otherwise always emerging dividing plane before the canopy with a round cap - this time we will not have to renew engraving and cement joints .... Next nice detail.

Transparent parts have nothing to criticize - nice, transparent as it should be, thin enough....
